"Standrill" Automatic Drill Press Stand Q&A

Standrill Q&A

Q1. What is the Standrill?

It is a stand on which an automatic drill press can easily be manufactured using a Selfeeder and Synchro Tapper. Although the standard Standrill requires assembly, we do sell pre-assembled units upon request(Contact the nearest sales office for details.)

Q2. What is an automatic drill press?

The spindle begins rotating immediately upon pushing the START button, and reverses after reaching a set position (the end point of the job). Even when the same movement is repeated again and again, there is little variation in the set position, thereby enabling stable processing (production).
When the Selfeeder is installed, you can choose from one of three automatic drill press operations by using the UC-61 controller: STD (standard operation), DWELL (stops at set points from 0.1 to 30 seconds), and STEP (step feeding (processing that repeats forward and reverse operations several times and efficiently ejects cut material during deep-hole and other processing)).
When the Synchro Tapper is installed, processing can be performed using it as an automatic tapping machine.

Q3. How is the Standrill different from the drilling press stands of other companies?

  1. The Standrill was developed exclusively for the Selfeeder, which has received high praise for its durability and its track record for being often used in the automotive industry.
  2. The bracket on which the Selfeeder is installed turns around a column. Thus, processing areas can be efficiently used despite limited space.

Q4. Can the center of the Selfeeder jolt out of alignment after centering if the bracket turns?

When the bracket turns, the position of the Selfeeder jolts out of alignment around the column. Should the bracket move out of position, adjustment work is required.
A guide bar can be optionally installed to reduce rotation when turning the bracket.

Q5. Does it take a long time to change over a workpiece?

The Standrill is structured so that turning the steering wheel moves a bracket up and down.
A changeover can be done quickly as the workpiece and clamp jig are changed and then the distance between the workpiece and tool edge are adjusted.

Q6. How long do installation and adjustments take?

A plumbed-in air machine is installed in the UC-61 controller as a unit.
If you request a pre-assembled unit, just connect the main air and power cable, and you can start operations, make all adjustments, and change all settings. (This does not include installation and adjustment of a jig or other parts.)

Q7. Can multiple Selfeeders be controlled with one controller?

A standard UC-61 controller controls only one Selfeeder. We have produced a floor-installed controller that can control three Selfeeders as a special specification.

Q8. Is the Standrill compatible with the Flex Stand?

It uses the same parts as that of the FS74, so compatibility is not an issue.
However, please be aware that the pitch of the installation hole on the base support (base clamp) differs from the pitch of the Flex Stand.
