Sugino Machine recognizes its responsibility as a manufacturing company to contribute to solving major global environmental issues, such as climate change. We are deeply concerned about the escalation of these issues on a global scale.
As stated in our environmental declaration, we aim to become a company that promotes environmental conservation and work towards achieving a sustainable society.

Sugino Machine has set a target to reduce CO₂ emissions by 25% by 2025 (compared to 2020 levels) and achieved a 17% reduction by 2022. Looking ahead, we are considering expanding the scope of our goals to include the entire group, and will promote initiatives such as energy conservation and the adoption of renewable energy to further reduce CO₂ emissions across our group. While we have been calculating CO₂ emissions in accordance with the SHK system so far, we plan to shift to calculation and disclosure based on the GHG Protocol in the future.
In addition, we aim for zero incidents of emissions-related issues, such as pollution, in the local community. We have not experienced any such incidents to date, and we remain committed to maintaining this zero-incident goal moving forward.

*The scope covers our domestic manufacturing facilities.
*Scope 1: Direct emissions from fuel use and industrial processes.
*Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the consumption of electricity and heat supplied by other companies. CO₂ emissions are calculated using the adjusted emission factors for each year provided by the electricity supplier.

We recognize that addressing environmental issues is a critical task, and in accordance with our Environmental Declaration, we are implementing various initiatives. Our management department serves as the core organization, setting environmental goals and managing performance. We have established a system where the status and reports of these initiatives are reviewed and reported at executive meetings and planning conferences attended by top management.

Aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions, we are tracking our emissions over the years and working to decrease the Sugino Machine Group’s CO₂ output through energy-saving activities and the introduction of renewable energy.
As part of our energy-saving activities, we regularly survey the energy usage at our offices and facilities nationwide. By promoting the switch to energy-efficient equipment, we strive to manage and optimize energy consumption.
Furthermore, in February 2023, we installed solar panels at the Namerikawa plant and began utilizing renewable energy, displaying the solar power generation on a monitor in the entrance. To effectively utilize renewable energy, we plan to consider installing solar panels at other facilities in the future.

By contributing to the reduction of processing time and extending the lifespan of products, we help our customers reduce CO₂ emissions in their production processes and contribute to a sustainable society.

We have no facilities required to report chemical emissions, and we recognize that our business activities do not emit substances that have a significant impact on the environment or hazardous chemicals. However, we strictly adhere to the policy of collecting and disposing of any emitted chemicals within the factory, ensuring they are not released outside the facility. Additionally, we have removed and disposed of all stabilizers containing PCBs.
Furthermore, we analyze discharged water to ensure it does not have a negative impact on the local environment.
