Sugino Machine Group Human Rights Policy
Sugino Machine Group has established the “Sugino Machine Group Human Rights Policy” based on international standards, including the United Nations’ “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights,” and is committed to thoroughly disseminating and implementing this policy.
The Sugino Machine Group Human Rights Policy serves as the highest-level policy on human rights, based on the “Sugino Machine Group Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior,” and forms the foundation for all business activities within the Sugino Machine Group.
Promotion Framework
To respect the human rights of all stakeholders, Sugino Machine Group is led by the management department in developing and reviewing the human rights activities policy and establishing and revising the promotion framework. Progress reports on these activities are regularly presented at the Executive Committee meetings, chaired by the President and CEO, ensuring a system that respects and upholds human rights. Based on the “Sugino Machine Group Human Rights Policy,” discussions are held to promote human rights respect, and through the examination of measures for human rights issues, efforts to advance human rights respect across the entire group are continually pursued.
Additionally, to enable the early detection of human rights violations such as forced labor and harassment both inside and outside the company, we have implemented an internal reporting (helpline) system.
Initiatives for Respecting Human Rights
Sugino Machine Group does not tolerate any form of child labor or forced labor. Regarding child labor, we require new employees to submit official identification documents at the time of hiring to verify their age according to our internal regulations. Additionally, we prohibit individuals under 18 from working during late hours (from 10 PM to 5 AM). As of the end of December 2023, no employees under the age of 18 are currently employed. We also request respect for human rights in our procurement guidelines toward our supply chain.
